Research on Sexual Dysfunctions and Disorders

This course will cover the advantages and disadvantages of the following research methods: case study, survey,
direct observation, and experimentation. Students will become familiar with the major sex researchers and their
contributions to the field, including Henry Havelock Ellis, Richard von Krafft-Ebing, Sigmund Freud, Theodore
Hendrik van de Velde, Alfred Kinsey, Leah Schaefer, Masters and Johnson, Helen Singer Kaplan, National Health
and Social Life Survey. Students will review recent research relating to sexual functioning and become familiar
with the major research journals.
